The Jefferson Parish Republican Executive Committee unanimously approved the following resolution at its meeting on July 12, 2021:

RESOLUTION

Whereas, Governor John Bel Edwards vetoed 19 House bills, 8 Senate bills, and portions of House Bill 2 of the 2021 Regular Session of the Legislature, and

Whereas, the vetoed bills were all authored by Republicans, and

Whereas, most of the bills passed by large margins, and

Whereas, several Republican groups around the state have called for the Legislature to convene to override the Governor’s vetoes,

Therefore, be it resolved that the Jefferson Parish Republican Parish Executive Committee urges the Jefferson Parish Republican delegation legislators to convene in a veto override session.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be transmitted via email to the Jefferson Parish Republican delegation legislators.

Municipal General/Special Legislative election – Saturday April 20, 2021

Early Voting: April 10 – 17, 2021 (excluding Sunday April 11th) from 8:30 am – 6:00 pm – 

The Republican Party of Jefferson Parish endorsed candidates for the general election on the April 24, 2021 ballot at its endorsement meeting held February 1, 2021. After hearing presentations from candidates and their answers to questions from the members, the committee made the following endorsements:

State Representative  82nd District – Edwin “Eddie” Connick

Council Member District 5, City of Westwego – Johnnie Lynn Thibodeaux
